Homeland - "Still Positive" Review

by Lee Padrick, November 4, 2013
Homeland S3E6

WARNING:  This review contains spoilers.

I have no idea what this show is about anymore.

The first season of Homeland was great television.  Suspense, thriller action, spies!  That's the stuff folks love to watch.

But when spies turn mopey, hands are reaching for the remote control.  Carrie is pregnant (likely with Brody's baby) and Saul's wife is stepping out on him.  "We were on a break!"  Only works on Friends.

I could review this episode, but I had rather talk about the empathy I have for Quinn (Rupert Friend).  This guy has been delivering the goods for the past two seasons, and he is being rewarded by a nonsensical script.  And more Dana Brody shenanigans.

This season's Big Bad is the Number Two in Iranian Intelligence.  And the reveal last week of Saul and Carrie's long con takes a weird twist this week, as we find out that Carrie was trying to get a meet with the Iranian spy so she could recruit him as an asset.  So how did Saul and Carrie figure out that their operation would unearth dubious money skimming in Venezuela immediately after the CIA bombing?  A month before said money skimming was discovered?

I may continue to watch Homeland off and on, but I see no reason to continue to review and discuss it.  Its a strange world we live in, when the former best show on television falls into the shark tank, and Walking Dead becomes must-watch TV.

Random Thoughts:

- I think Max has the hots for Fara.

- No Virgil this week.

- Seriously?  Favadi decides to shank his ex-wife with a broken bottle?

What did you think?
